MIA

Man, I have really been MIA lateley from blogging. I am just so busy with life. Let's see....things going on in the WORLD OF CALLAS:

1. WORK-it's going really well. I'm about to hire someone on for 2010 because I have taken on so much business that I can't handle it all by myself. I am also trying to get my website done(with the help of my wonderful mom, LOVE YA MOM).
2. CHILDREN-for those of you who don't already know, we are expecting our second child in May...the 9th to be exact. I'm now 14 weeks along and man, has this pregnancy been rough. With Aiden I felt great, from day one on. I have been so sick this go round and I'm hoping, NO I'M PRAYING that it goes away soon!
3. AIDEN-technically he should be part of number 2 but lately he's a category all of his own! He's talking so much now, saying so many words. He is even saying a phrase now, "there it is"! OH, and the MELTDOWNS...they are a pretty common occurance these days. Whenever he hears the word 'NO' he just loses it. It was amusing at first, now it's just plain annoying. Ah, the phases. Let this be a quick one!
4. HOUSE- since our patio has been done, we were able to get some room opened up in our house, so we have decided to do a complete remodel of the downstairs. We are basically going to rearrage rooms, making our living room space much larger to accomodate TWO children's things, instead of just one :) In addition to this, I have already began to 'nest' therefore I will be purging all of the unnecessary things from this house. PLUS, I have to pull out all the 'fat Noelle' clothes because I have already popped out and can no longer fit the size 2 that I worked so hard to get into (I know this is a good thing..but can't a girl dream about her size 2 jeans)!! Switching out wardrobes is no easy task...this alone will take days.

See...I have been busy. No time for blogging. I'll try harder though...need to keep those memories alive somehow!

A tantrum a day keeps the play time away!

Tantums, they've become a daily, I mean HOURLY routine in the Callas household lately. When Aiden doesn't get his way, down on the floor he goes and the screaming ensues. It's quite funny and when they begin he makes this really funny face and it's so hard not to laugh at him. The other day Luke, Robyn and I were sitting in the living room watching some news and Aiden walked over to Luke and grabbed the remote off his lap. Luke of course grabbed it back. By the look on Aiden's face, you would have thought we had pinched him really hard or something. His bottom lip curled down and in seconds he was crying hysterically. The three of us tried really hard not to laugh, but the face was just THAT funny.

I love our little guy so much it hurts so I should laugh at him when he's sad, but sometimes I just can't help it!

Happy Hump Day to Me!!

NOT...

It has been a day of tantrems from my wonderful baby boy...

First it was the tantrem in the morning because mommy took a bite of his blueberry waffle (when did my little boy care about such things)?

Then after his nap I decided that it would be a good time to go grocery shopping. I knew I only had a little bit of time before lunch so I hurried. Well about ten minutes into the trip tantrem number two began. He wanted to get down, so in the quiet isle I let him run. BOY WAS THAT A MISTAKE. As soon as I tried to put him back in the cart the screaming began (and it didn't end until we were almost home).
SIDE NOTE: I hate to admit that I used to be that person who would look at the parents of out of control children and wish they would just 'shut their kid up' but now I take all that back. I totally know how they felt...wondering who was
looking at them and thinking that same thing. It's really out of your hands to a
certain extent. Hopefully this 'tantrem' stage will go by fast, but I have a feeling it's gonna be with us for a while!!

Tantrem number three happened at lunch. Again, mommy was trying to show Aiden how to take a bite of his peanut butter cracker and he was not having that. The peanut butter cracker went flying and screaming resumed. I had to give him a new cracker to eat (BTW, he pulls the sides apart and licks the peanut butter off first...how cute).

Tantrem number four happened at the playground when mommy tried to take away a cup that belonged to another child.

And finally the afternoon tantrem (YES that makes NUMBER FIVE). This one happened because mommy yelled at the little bugger because he decided to fill an entire cuppy with water from the dispenser on the fridge and then thought it would be a good idea to dump it all over himself and the kitchen loor. Again I ask, since when did he become smart AND tall enough to do such a thing??

The evening was pretty uneventful (THANK GOODNESS)!!! Luke's on nights this week so Aiden and I get lots of time to hang out together. He ate really well at dinner. We attempted to take a bath but due the the storm we opted against it. Now he's upstairs sleeping peacefully and I have a quiet TANTREM FREE house!!

I can't wait to see what tomorrow has in store for us!

Aiden Monster

Wowsers...now that I'm home with Aiden I get so see how much he changes from day to day. I also get a hand full of his monsterness (I know that's now a word but for today it is) too. He's really testing my boundaries with everything. Any time I take something away from him, he throws a fit...flopping himself onto the ground and flailing his extremites about.

I am trying the 1-2-3 method with him. It seems to be working. I'll keep you posted on how it's going!

OH..and it seems as though he's beginning to regress with sleeping. Things were going so well for so long and now he's waking up at 3am and WON'T GO BACK TO SLEEP. What....what....what? Maybe he's growing...by his eating habits you would think so :)

We are also trying to get rid of the pacifier. Now I know why they say to not introduce it in the first place..if only I had listened. He's using it only at sleep time but if he spots it (which he can usually do from across the planet) that's when all heck breaks lose. I have to try to discract him but 9 out of 10 times it doesn't work.

Ah, the life of a toddler...

Where'd My Baby Go?

The Temper tantrems...oh the temper tantrems. They have begun (SIGH).

Basically since Friday of last week, we get one a day...sometimes even two. It's really hard to not laugh at Aiden when he looks at you, turns away and begins screaming at the top of his lungs. They can start at the drop of a hat. Whenever the big "NO" comes, from either daddy or I, he just loses it.

Where did my cute, cuddle muffin go?

He's hiding somewhere....and now I have this little toddler who wants his way or no way. I know this is how it goes, but it's definitley a reality check when it happens for the first time. We have to step it up as parents and begin to set boundaries...ones that will be tested at every turn. This is where it gets fun and complicated...disciplining, communication barriers and such.

Parenthood is truly the greatest blessing, even with the little moments like these!
