Big Boy Bed!
Aiden is sleeping and has been for days now in his big boy bed. We were going back and forth as to when the best time would be to move him. He never attempted to climb out of his crib, but I did want him out long before the new baby took over his domain. Last weekend was it. I got his new room assembled and we decided to give it a go at naptime. He's a CHAMP! We placed a twin mattress and boxspring on the floor and let him do his thing. We don't have rails on it so if he falls off, it'll be a short trip to the ground. So far so good though!

Our blossoming little boy!
Aiden is changing so rapidly every day. It's really an amazing thing to watch!
He's becoming more and more independent and wants to be a BIG boy (and with this there are some downsides too). The other day we sat down to eat breakfast and I handed him his bowl of cereal with his little spoon. The second he saw it he began to throw a fit. At first I was totally thrown off by his behavior. Why was he acting like this? Then he started to say "bisp" over and over again. I didn't know what he was saying which was VERY VERY frustrating. Then finally it dawned on me..he was asking for a BIG SPOON. I handed him one and he was as happy as can be!
He's talking more and using more words to form little sentences. He says things like "Hey mommy catch" and "come on daddy". He completely understands you when you are talking to him and he's a bit of a manipulator too. At night we go upstairs, take a bath, get dressed, listen to some music and read books. Lately, he doesn't want to go to bed (that's a whole other post), so he will ask you over and over again to read more books. When I let him down off my lap to pick a new book, he's easily distracted with other things in his room. He'll wander over to his aquarium and talk to his fish. He'll conveniently need to go potty, and sometimes he'll just sit in front of his books pondering over which one to read. This can sometimes take up to ten minutes to pick ONE BOOK! He's playing mommy...and some days I give in because I'm so tired that it actually feels good to rock in his chair by myself, and then others I protest immediately.
He's growing up before our very eyes and sometimes just thinking about it makes me tear up! He's no longer a baby...but our blossoming little boy!

Potty Time
I can't believe it, but YES..Aiden is actively using the potty every day now. It began a few weeks back. Whenever Luke or I'd take him into the bathroom, he would try to take his diaper off. So one day I decided to let him try. I held him up on the big potty and he peed. Then he laughed. I thought to myself..hmm, this has to be a fluke thing.
NOPE
I went out and bought a little potty for him and so it has begun!!
EVERYDAY NOW!! He has peed on the potty at least one time every day for about a week and a half now. I know we are a far way from being "potty trained" but hey..I'll take it. There is a downside to this early desire to be a big boy. He never wants to wear a diaper. Every time I turn around now, he's somehow managed to pull that darn thing off. It's really driving me crazy. I'm going to get some duck tape and belt his diapers on..haha, jk although that would be pretty funny.
My baby boy is growing so darn fast.

The N Word
While Luke and I couldn't be happier that our little seed's vocabulary is increasing every day, we're finding it a HUGE annoyance that the big "N" word has finally made it's big debut. Although he's not saying it THAT often, it's still being said none-the-less.
The way he says it is actually pretty cute. It's more like "nyoooow". Here's our beautiful babe in action!

A Brief Catch Up
Well where to start. It's been a while since I posted last. Aiden is growing like a week..changing in so many ways each day. I come home and it seems like he's learned a new trick, or word. I can't believe how smart he is. He's really beginning to test our boundaries.
He's a BIG climber. Anything he can climb on he will. We have stool in our kitchen that use to get to the higher cabinet shelves. It's Aid's new favorite toy. He loves to climb up on it and see what mommy is doing. We now have to move EVERYTHING away from the edges due to tis new skill.
Two weekends ago I took a trip to New York City to see some very good friends of mine from college. Luke was working nights so my mother in law took Aid for the weekend. This was a HUGE step for me, being away from him for so long. While I thoroughly enjoyed every minute with my dear freinds, it was good to get back to see my little man. Robyn came to pick me up from the airport on Sunday and when I hopped in the back seat to greet Aiden his eyes lit up so big and bright. It melted my heart.
Last week was his last w/ Miss Tracy's daycare. We really did love Tracy but we were beginning to have some real issues...and due to the economy we were forced to pull Aid. Luke's mom is retiring soon and she will be watching him 2 or three days a week. I am looking forward to that very much!
Aiden's newest thing is swatting. When he gets really angry about something, he will go over to the nearest thing (person or not) and swat at it. Sometimes he will knock things over. It's so hard to not laugh at him when he gets going on one his swatting tantrums. On the bright side...spring is here and the flies will be out soon....hopefully he can put some of that swatting to use ;)
Until next time.....
Aid LOVES LOVES LOVES to brush his teeth now...let's hope this lasts!!
Bathtime is ALWAYS a good time!!

One BEAUTIFUL weekend!
All is can say is wow. What a gorgeous and wonderful time we had last weekend. Saturday we started the day off wtih the Little Gym. Aiden is really enjoying this time he has to basically run around and play for 45 minutes. He's such a little helper too. When it's time to play with the balls, he runs around and tries to put them all back into the trashcan for the teacher (usually this happens BEFORE it's time to put them away) but he's helping none the less.
After the gym, we headed home for a good nap and then Stacie, Aiden and I headed to winchester to meet Kim. We had lunch and then headed to the park. This was Aiden's first real trip to the playground and it he had such a blast. He thought he was a big kid though, trying to climb the "rock" wall and what not. While we were there, he spotted a lab across the park and threw a fit until he was able to go see it a little closer. After the park, we headed to a birthday party at the Polka Dot Pot. That place is really cool. We got to pick out something and paint it. Aiden doens't have nice piggy bank so we chose one in the shape of a monkey. (I chose the monkey b/c it was the easierst, least creativity needed item to paint.
After the party we went home and cooked out on the grill with some friends.
Sunday we headed to my dad's new house. He just moved into this beautiful home out past Winchester on 5 acres of land. We enjoyed lunch and then afterwards we headed down to the playground. Dad's wife took Aid for a spin on the 4 wheeler, which he thoroughly enjoyed. We had a really great time.

One Extreme to the Next
If you have been following my blogging lately, then you already know that our family has been sick and for a while Aiden had not been eating...or at least eating normally. Well my friends, let me tell you...THAT HAS CHANGED. For the last several days, my child has been a hoover when it comes to meal time. For example, yesterday for breakfast he ate the following:
1/2 of a banana
3 mini pancakes
a cup of blueberries
1 yogurt
OH YES...I'm still going...
cheerios
a cup of milk
a slice of raisin bread
GEES! He's and Luke told me that it was the same for lunch. For dinner he ate 4 dino chicken nuggets, an ENTIRE can of peas, a biscuit and for desert he had a fruit cup. Then he drank an big cup of milk. WHOA!!!
I don't even eat THAT much. I'm glad my little baby is healthy and eating again!!

A healthy, happy boy...trying his best to be like daddy
and keep the floors in the house dirt free!!

The BIG CHASE
Aiden is walking....all over the place now. He can even get himself up after falling without crawling over to a piece of furniture (he does so by putting his little behind way up in the air and crab walking backwards with his hands until he's up..it's really quite comical).
He loves nothing more than to be chased so each and every evening Luke and I chase him around the house while he makes little bird like sounds. Last night it was daddy's turn.
There they go....

Why won't he just sleep??
Aiden is now almost 11 months old. He doesn't need to eat in the middle of the night and should be sleeping straight through until the morning, but that doesn't seem to be the case. On and off now for the past month or so he has been waking up at random times throughout the night. I have tried to let him cry it out on several occasions but he will sit in there FOREVER and cry (of scream). A few times I have gone in and picked him up (I know..that's bad) and rocked him to sleep but when I go to put him back in the crib, his eyes spring oven and the whaling begins again.
Last night was the worst. It was two thirty when I rolled over and looked at the clock. I decided that going in there was NOT what I needed to do so I let the crying go on. AN HOUR LATER, he was still crying and the only thing that would stop him was to nurse. He's at that age (and has been for some time now) where he doesn't need to eat at night but it's the only thing that will quiet him and I can't be up all hours of the night listening to him scream his little lungs out. I just don't know what to do at this point. Part of me wants to just let him cry, turn on the radio to drown out the noise and go back to sleep. Part of me thinks he will grow out of this. I guess only time will tell...in the meantime I will do whatever it takes for momma and baby to get as much rest as possible.

They grow SO Fast!
I headed to Target on Saturday to get some things I needed and I finally used my last gift card from the baby shower to buy Aiden some toys (thanks Karm). I looked for the Fisher Price Peek-A-Boo blocks but I couldn't find them so I ended up buying the Roll A Rounds. They are great toys, but couldn't be any more inconvenient for a mommy who "tries" to keep her house somewhat organized and clean. PLUS as soon as I pour the package of them on the ground they all roll away from Aiden under some piece of furniture. Aiden is left there sitting with maybe one of them in his hand.
Aiden now has both of this front bottom teeth. We had a few rough weeks with teething. It started to get better, but now he's getting three, YES THREE up top now. Poor little fella...hopefully they will come in quickly!

1 down, 19 to go!
YAY....Aiden's first tooth has arrived! It's barely cut the gum but Luke and I are very excited none the less! All the fussing is finally paying off. Hopefully it will be a speedy process!

Relaxing Weekend
We didn't do much this weekend. Luke, Aiden and I hung out on Friday night. Aiden is sitting up so well on his own now. We played on the living room floor for a long time.
Saturday the three of us got up early and headed out to do some shopping. We were going to go to the pool but the storms put a damper on things (no pun intented). On a side note...thunderstorms don't normally bother me, but the one that came through early Saturday morning did...I haven't seen lightning or heard thunder THAT LOUD in forever. Poor Kenzie had wedged himself so close between Luke and the headboard that he got stuck. Any way, back to Saturday. We went out to Costco and Luke even agreed to go grocery shopping with me. These trips usually end in an argument of some sort but this trip went pretty smoothly. it also helps that Aiden is so good in public. We went out to lunch and I decided to try out the high chair. Aid did really well with it. I had to prop a blanket in behind him but he sat there like a little champ while Luke and I enjoyed our lunch. Luke's mom came over that evening and watched the baby for a little while so we could meet some friends of Luke's for drinks. (Robyn got some REALLY FUNNY pics of Aiden that I will post later) We weren't out too long but we had a really good time.
Sunday I got to finally clean my house!!! I can't stand clutter and things were starting to clutter up the house. I had some things to take back to Jess for the baby that were piling up and I was finally able to get them back to her. Danielle and Teaghan came over in the afternoon and we hung out for a while. They stayed for dinner and Danielle got to help me give Aiden a bath which is becoming more and more fun every time. I bought one of those chairs that clip to the side of the tub so that he can sit up on his own and I don't have to hold on to him every second. He LOVES it.
