Rollie Pollie

My baby girl is rolling over! I remember it taking a long time with aiden but Avery has it down! She did it for the first time a few weeks back but has started really rolling over while my mom was in town (I'll post about that this evening).

We have also started with the solid foods. This is my FAVORITE milestone and I can't believe she's already big enough to start.

Time is flying by way too fast!

My Lil' Spooner

I thought it would take FOREVER for Aiden to learn how to use his utensils when eating. He picked up the fork faster, but the spoon, NOT SO MUCH.

We have been working VERY hard at the spoon. Each morning I give him his bowl of oatmeal or cereal (milk included) and after a lot of hard work, by gosh, he's finally got it!!!!

Potty Time

I can't believe it, but YES..Aiden is actively using the potty every day now. It began a few weeks back. Whenever Luke or I'd take him into the bathroom, he would try to take his diaper off. So one day I decided to let him try. I held him up on the big potty and he peed. Then he laughed. I thought to myself..hmm, this has to be a fluke thing.

NOPE

I went out and bought a little potty for him and so it has begun!!

EVERYDAY NOW!! He has peed on the potty at least one time every day for about a week and a half now. I know we are a far way from being "potty trained" but hey..I'll take it. There is a downside to this early desire to be a big boy. He never wants to wear a diaper. Every time I turn around now, he's somehow managed to pull that darn thing off. It's really driving me crazy. I'm going to get some duck tape and belt his diapers on..haha, jk although that would be pretty funny.

My baby boy is growing so darn fast.

Baa - Bules

Aiden has a few words in his vocabulary...the usual, mama, daddy (sounds more like yaddy), mac (for Mackenzie) but I've been waiting to hear a different word for weeks now. We work with our picture book everyday, looking at fruits and animals, but I get nothing, which is totally fine ;)

Two days ago when he woke up from nap I could smell the nastiness coming from his diaper and I said UH OH. Seconds later I heard a little faint UH OH come from Aiden. I jumped up and down with joy. I thought it was the greatest thing I had EVER heard....that is until yesterday!!

After his morning nap yesterday (yes, it seems that he's has readjusted himself to two naps again) we came downstairs to play and he spotted the large ziploc bag that holds all of his bubble supplies. Without hesitation he looks at me, points to the bag and says.....BAA BULES. I just kind of stared at him, asking myself if I had heard what I thought I heard. I said bubbles to him and he said it again. THIS was the greatest thing I had heard ever!!! It's crazy how much he's changing everyday.

I know I've said it before, but I am blessed to be able to be with him and witness these amazing changes!

A Brief Catch Up

Well where to start. It's been a while since I posted last. Aiden is growing like a week..changing in so many ways each day. I come home and it seems like he's learned a new trick, or word. I can't believe how smart he is. He's really beginning to test our boundaries.

He's a BIG climber. Anything he can climb on he will. We have stool in our kitchen that use to get to the higher cabinet shelves. It's Aid's new favorite toy. He loves to climb up on it and see what mommy is doing. We now have to move EVERYTHING away from the edges due to tis new skill.

Two weekends ago I took a trip to New York City to see some very good friends of mine from college. Luke was working nights so my mother in law took Aid for the weekend. This was a HUGE step for me, being away from him for so long. While I thoroughly enjoyed every minute with my dear freinds, it was good to get back to see my little man. Robyn came to pick me up from the airport on Sunday and when I hopped in the back seat to greet Aiden his eyes lit up so big and bright. It melted my heart.

Last week was his last w/ Miss Tracy's daycare. We really did love Tracy but we were beginning to have some real issues...and due to the economy we were forced to pull Aid. Luke's mom is retiring soon and she will be watching him 2 or three days a week. I am looking forward to that very much!

Aiden's newest thing is swatting. When he gets really angry about something, he will go over to the nearest thing (person or not) and swat at it. Sometimes he will knock things over. It's so hard to not laugh at him when he gets going on one his swatting tantrums. On the bright side...spring is here and the flies will be out soon....hopefully he can put some of that swatting to use ;)

Until next time.....
Aid LOVES LOVES LOVES to brush his teeth now...let's hope this lasts!!

Bathtime is ALWAYS a good time!!

Manners

Of all the things that I can teach my children, one of the most important, I believe, is manners (especally with a boy). We are teaching Aiden sign language and this past week we have been putting an emphasis on please and thank you. Well....I am happy to report that Aiden now signs 'please' like a pro! It's really the only sign that we have gotten him to do consistently.

It's really incredible to see how much he's learning on a daily basis. He knows where his food is located in the kitchen so each evening he goes over to the cabinet, pulls an item off the shelf, brings it to us, and signs please while grunting that he would like some. (BTW...I hate the grunting. Is it a boy thing? I would rather they just not make any sound at all)

He's also putting things away when I ask him to. The teacher in his Little Gym class has made several comments on how he's always trying to clean up after the other children. For example, when it's time to play with the balls Aiden will run around and steal the other children's and put them back into the trashcan.

Momma's little helper!! Lets hope it lasts....right!!!

Here are some pics of Aiden at his WLG class!

He's ONE!!!!

Wow! I know I say it a lot on here but time does fly by so fast. My little Aiden is One.

After scrambling around on Friday and Saturday morning the party got under way at 2 on Saturday. We celebrated with close friends and family. He did quite well considering all the people and chaos that birthday parties can sometimes bring.

Watching him dive into his cake (made specially for him by Miss Watterworth) was quite the scene. It took him a little while to dig in but once he did...HE DID. What a mess but it was all worth it. He got some really great toys..not to many though which made me happy...he alreay has way too many.

I will post the pictures from his party later.

Aiden's New Things....one GOOD and one BAD

GOOD: Aiden is a talking machine. He's not making much sense to anyone but himself of course, but he loves to chit chat. He called all sorts of people yesterday and told him all about his day. It's the cutest thing to watch him carry on long conversations. His facial expressions even change as he gabs on.

Words that do make sense: Mamma, Daddy, Ball, Mac (for MacKenzie) and I'm pretty sure he says Yeah.

BAD: Aiden is swatting at things now....at ALL things. Even me. When he gets frustrated he swats. When you tell him no he swats. When you smile at him HE SWATS. He swatted at MacKenzie yesterday so hard that he hurt him. Mommy had to discipline big time for that one. I guess it's just a phase but man, I wish it would hurry up and pass.

The BIG CHASE

Aiden is walking....all over the place now. He can even get himself up after falling without crawling over to a piece of furniture (he does so by putting his little behind way up in the air and crab walking backwards with his hands until he's up..it's really quite comical).

He loves nothing more than to be chased so each and every evening Luke and I chase him around the house while he makes little bird like sounds. Last night it was daddy's turn.

There they go....

1 down, 19 to go!

YAY....Aiden's first tooth has arrived! It's barely cut the gum but Luke and I are very excited none the less! All the fussing is finally paying off. Hopefully it will be a speedy process!

Teething

UGG...it's begun. The gnawing and chewing on everything, the drooling, the contstant whining and worst of all, the screaming at bedtime. I guess I really didn't think it was going to be THIS bad. Aiden has been such a great (and when I say great I mean REALLY wonderful) baby and now we've hit a bump. With a little help (Oragel, Motrin and teething tablets) well get through it. There's no pearly white poking through yet, but I'm eagerly anticipating it's arrival. We gave him a teeching biscuit the other day and he tore it up...

HE DID IT!!!!!!!!

So, like most new mommies I have been secretly obsessing over my child's milestones and for the most part Aiden has been hitting them right on. All except for rolling over. Well ladies and gentleman...he has finally figured it out!! I'M SO PROUD!
