Aiden and T sharing some crackers...I'm pretty sure they were also discussing the disadvantages of being 'big' brother and sister these days (Dan had little Liam two weeks ago).
From changing diapers to walking the dog, the members of the crazy Callas clan invite you to follow us on our journey of that thing they call life.

Goodbye 2009, Hello 2010!
It's been one heck of a year, 2009. While there were several good things to look back on, there were also some bad too!
To start things off, financially this year has been a disaster for many. This was the year of lay-offs. I unfortunately was part of that group. Yes, I could look at this as being the worst thing that happened to me this year, however that's not how I see it at all! I actually view it as being the BEST thing that could have happened! I own my own business now...and that includes making my own hours and spending more time with my family! Yes, it also means less money, but you know what? I DON'T CARE! I would rather struggle a little and have the life I have now, than the one I had before. AND on a side note, my business is booming so one day, I will get back to where I was financially but until then, I'm going to enjoy every minute with my beautiful son and wonderful husband!
Secondly, I am blessed to have a wonderful family to come home to everyday. I have a husband who puts his life on the line everyday for others and I look up to him for that. I have a healthy little boy who makes me smile everyday. I am also fortunate to be expecting another little one in May. A GIRL!! That's right! Callas baby number two is heading our way and we couldn't be happier about it!
So, yes there were some bad things that happened this year, but the good far outweigh them! I look back on 2009 with an open heart and welcome 2010 with open arms! Good things are going to happen for the Callas Family this year, I can feel it!
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!
Oh, and by the way, we had a great evening with our neighbors! All the kids stayed up WAY TOO LATE and we sat around catching up, eating goood food and I even enjoyed a tiny glass of champagne. I managed to stay up until the ball dropped (suprisingly) and was asleep quickly thereafter!

Halloween!
The Callas family went all out this year and decided to all dress up to go trick or treating. It also happened that Saturday was one of Aiden's good friend's 3rd birthday party too! We went to Nattie's party (a BARBIE party) and then afterwards we headed out into the neighborhood.
I was a little worried with how Aiden would handle all the 'scary' parts of Halloween, but he had the best time. There was a group of about 15 of us.

SCARED of the firetrucks!
This evening Aiden and I headed into Front Royal to visit some good friends of ours (who we haven't seen in FOREVER). It also happened that the fireman's parade was tonight too and our friends live right on the parade route.
Obviously, given that it was a fireman's parade, there were a lot of fire trucks. Well, let me just tell you that my Aiden does not like the sound that a firetruck makes. He spent the entire time crying (and waving- it was hysterical to watch) to all the trucks as they drove by. The thunderstorms passed and despite the noise, we all managed to have a good time!!

Christmas in July at Jellystone
About a month and a half ago I was over at the Sweeney household and Jessica was telling me about this awesome place she found online to have a little mini vacation. After explaining all the details to me I went home that evening and checked it out and it looked awesome. Turns out I was SO RIGHT!!!!
We headed down to Jellystone on Friday stopping for lunch along the way. We got there around 2:00 and checked in to our cabins. The Sweeney's got one and we got our own. They were close to each other which made everything very convenient. For those of you who know nothing about this campground...it's really great! There is a fishing pond, putt putt, a huge waterslide, two pools, a big playground, laser tag, and these really cool bouncing pillows (Aiden's favorite thing). This particular weekend was also Christmas in July. Santa was there to hand out presents to all the good boys and girls. Of course Aiden began to cry the minute Santa stepped into the room. So much in fact that I had to remove him from the scene. Nat Nat (what Aiden calls Natalie) was very upset by Santa's presence as well. Needless to say, Santa was sort of a bust, but the kids got some cute gifts (compliments of mom and dad) and apart from this they all had a really great time. Most of our time was spent at the playground and the bouncing pillows. There was a sand pit around the pillows and that's where Aiden spent most of his time. He did bounce quite a bit too.
At night, we put all the kiddies down together in the Sweeney cabin and the adults sat around the camp fire, roasting marshmallows and enjoying some adult beverages!! We all truly had a great time. We only needed one more whole day to make the trip better. Next time we'll have to stay three nights!!
Enjoy the pics!

Easter Weekend
Wow...Easter has come and gone already. It's hard to belive how fast the time is going by. We had a really nice weekend despite the fact that Aiden was sick again. Let me tell you....he is a really BAD teether. Not only does he get in like three at a time but he seems to get a double ear infection after each one of them. In addition to the teething he also started a new daycare last week so all of those things combined made for a sick little one.Saturday we headed to my dad's house. Aiden got to visit with his cousins that we don't see very often. The day started off sort of iffy but the weather cleared and we were able to get the kiddies outside for thier egg hunt! Aiden isn't really into the whole thing yet so Luke and I would throw and egg behind him, he'd spot it, pick it up, place it in his basket, and then we'd take the egg and start the whole process over again. He ended up "picking up" about 20 eggs, but there were only 5 in his basket..hehe...ah the trickery! Aiden hung in there for most of the day, although I couldn't be more than 10 feet away from him b/c if so, he threw a fit.
Sunday were were going to head to the Leesburg flower show but unfortunately Aiden was a clinger all weekend and we didn't want to keep him out in the cold for that long so we ditched it and went over to the Hornbakers for dinner instead. It's been a while since we have seen them so we thought it would be nice to visit!
All in all it was a good weekend!

Apple Pickin'
This weekend was wonderful. Saturday Luke, Aiden and I got up, hung out for a bit and then headed out to run some errands. In the afternoon, Aiden and I headed over to Clarke County to visit my good friend Kelly who's visiting from Colorado. Karm, Megan and Stace came too and it was such a pleasant afternoon of catching up. We picked apples with all the kiddies and ate some grapes right off the vine. I love hanging out with my good girlfriends from high school. We are so blessed to still have each other and to be so close. It's so funny to look around and think about where we were just five years ago. Now we are settling down and starting families.

Seasoned Love
Luke and I met some friends out for dinner last night and while we were sitting at the bar waiting for our table I noticed this lovely older couple (by older I mean like 70+) sitting next to me. The bartender approached and asked if they would like to order something while they waited for their table. The gentleman replied "No, we aren't waiting for a table, we are just out for our weekly date night to enjoy some drinks." I couldn't tell if they were married but either way, it was the cutest thing ever. I hope that when Luke and I are that old, we still have date night too!!

A Life Realization...if you will

Wow, it's been a while since I posted last. Well a lot has been happening in the Callas home. We are ending our wonderful day care relationship with my sister (due to her the pending arrival of her little one) and Aiden will start daycare with Mrs. Tracy soon (that's for another post...soon to come). He's is a full blown piggy. We went back to the dr. and Aiden is now 16 lbs (maybe more b/c that was back on the 13th. Such a fatty! He's up to 2 tbsp of cereal a day and then maybe some fruit or veggies on top of that. Like I said...HE'S A FATTY!
Well on to the "life realization". Lara's shower was last weekend and while me and all my girls were hanging out on the farm someone said 'You know, five years ago we were all be sitting around the pool with a beer in our hand. Today, we are all sitting around with our children in our hands'. All I could think is wow...we are getting old. Time is way too precious people...enjoy everyday because before you know it we will be sitting around the pool holding our grandkids...WOW!
