Babies...Babies...Everywhere!

Another new friend for Aiden....Sylvia Ann Sweeney...5 pounds 4 oz, born at 1:40 am 7/26/08, 19 inches long. CONGRATS STEPHEN AND JESS!!!

Weekend Festivities

Our company picnic was on Saturday. Every year the owner of my company throws this big bash on this river property. Mr. B's BBQ caters and he gets a band or DJ. We go water skiing and tubing out on the potomac. Those that want to camp can do so if they wish. We are never able to camp but do enjoy the day none the less. Every year it also seems to rain which it did again this year but not until a little later. We had a great time this year. Aiden even made a new friend!

Bad Hair Day

I am having a really hard time deciding what to do with Aiden's hair. I love little boys with curly locks and I know that if I wait it out, he will have hair like this (Luke's hair is curly and beautiful when it's a little longer) but right now it's just lookin' like a REALLY BAD COMB OVER. I mean look at it....

Should I cut it or just leave it to grow. All suggestions welcome!

Good Eatin'

Our weekend!

Luke worked nights all weekend so I didn't do much but Aiden and I got to spend some quality time together. Nana (Luke's mom) came over and hung out for a bit on Saturday so that I could get some cleaning done and pay bills. Then we headed over to Danielle's around lunch time to see her and Teaghan. We had a nice visit. My sister Melissa came over with her two kids and it's been a while since they have seen Aiden so it was a good time.

Yesterday, I decided that it was time to let Aiden attempt to feed himself and boy was that fun. Applesauce and green beans were flying around the kitchen. He hasn't grasped the food to mouth concept. Instead he picked up his bowl and flung it across the room. I think there was more food on us than in his belly...hehe...FUN TIMES!!!

Bathtime is getting to be more fun as well. In the beginning, Aiden didn't like to bathe. He cried the minute his little bottom hit the water and didn't stop until he was wrapped up in his towel. Now he loves it. He sits in his little tub and splashes all the water out. Again..I think I ended up with most of it on me. He's at that stage where he's putting everything in his mouth so it's hard to keep the wash cloth away from him. Oh AND his cradle cap is back. I worked so hard to get rid of it and now here we are two months later and it's back....UGG.

My Visit to the Hospital

I went to the hospital and spent some of the day with my little sis and her new baby girl Teaghan yesterday. All I can say is WOW! They both couldn't be doing better. Teaghan is beautiful. She looks just like her daddy, but with my sister's nose (she was doomed either say..hehe, jk guys!) She has a head full of platinum blonde hair. Dan is also doing awesome. I got there and she was fully dressed and bouncing around the room. I know it was only 5 months ago, but I can't remember being so mobile right after I gave birth. Actually, if memory serves me right (it often doesn't), I was in bed for three days afterwards.....IT'S JUST NOT FAIR!!

On a side note, for those of you who don't know, Aiden was in the NICU for 7 days because he was diagnosed with pnumonia when he was born. It was very rough, but he had two of the best nurses during his stay. For the last 5 months I have been meaning to send them thank you cards with pics of Aiden. Well, seeing as how I was going to the hospital to see my sis I thought I would just bring them with me and drop them off at the front desk of the NICU. As I was walking down the hall to my sister's room I happened to see one of the nurses. I introduced myself and explained my reasons for approaching her and when I was done she gave me the biggest hug and seemed so tickled that I would think of her. She remembered Aiden, and brought up the fact that on day two of his stay he pulled out his own feeding tube (stubborn from the beginning). I just couldn't help but thank her again and again for what she did for us back in February! It really made both of our days!!

Mommy's Big Helpers

Ok, so I know this probably isn't the safest thing in the world for him to be doing...but you gotta give it to him for multitasking. Dinner on the table AND a happy baby...what more could a mommy ask for?

Sleep!!!!!

All I have to say is YAY! For the first time in who knows how long I got five and a half hours of CONSECUTIVE sleep! Apparently the Ferber sleep method is working for Aiden. He fussed for about two minutes last night and then fell right to sleep. I went down about an hour after he did and then at around 4:30 this moring I jumped up out of bed and ran to his room thinking that something must be wrong. To my surprise, there he was sleeping so peacefully. I wanted to pick him up and give him the biggest hug and just scream thank you as loud as I could...but of course I didn't, I wanted to go back to sleep!

It really is amazing how much better they feel in the morning after getting long hours of sleep themselves. The last two mornings I haven't even heard him, he is just playing in his crib and he is so happy when I come into the room. He looks up at me and smiles and it makes my heart melt. Again I say...MOMMYHOOD IS THE BEST THING IN THE WORLD!!!

Bridge to Terabithia

"Imagination is more important than knowledge. For while knowledge defines all we currently know and understand, imagination points to all we might yet discover and create." -Albert Einstein

For those of you who haven't seen Bridge to Terabithia ...you should. It's wonderful. It's all about children and their imaginations. I don't know about you but I miss mine. I can remember the days when my living room turned into a maze of secret passages that led to a hidden treasure. or when the entire forest became a house..with separate rooms and all....haha...ah, those were the days. I look forward to rekindling the relationship with mine as Aiden gets older and acquires one of his own.

It's really a shame because today it seems that kids lose theirs so early, or sometimes don't find one at all.

Mrs. Tracy's Daycare

We are offically one week into our new daycare routine! As most of you know my little sister Danielle has been our nanny since Aiden was 8 weeks old. She has done a fabulous job with him but she is about to have a little one of her own so we were happily forced to find a new day care provider. This wasn't easy..but I found a wonderful woman who came higly recommended by a mommy in my neighborhood. She runs a licensed daycare center out of her home. It's only been a week but we are very happy with everything so far. Aiden seems to be adjusting well too, although he really isn't able to tell us otherwise right now.

Financially it's a bit of a strain but we will make it work. Due to Luke's schedule, he will get to spend 6 whole days a month with Aiden so that will save us a little $$ and Aiden will get quality daddy time too!

On a side note...we have stopped swaddling Aiden at night and we are giving the Ferber sleep technique a try. Last night was the first night and he fell asleep after only 10 minutes of fussing (not crying). I'll keep you posted on how it goes!
